Like most WNBA teams, the Mystics have some representatives playing in Unrivaled this season. Shakira Austin and Sug Sutton are both members of Rose BC, replacing Angel Reese and Brittney Sykes from last season’s championship roster. Emily Englster is also in Miami as a part of the development pool.
Austin and Sutton are still undefeated, winning all three of their first games with Rose. Both have contributed nicely, especially Austin. She averaged 14.3 points and 8 rebounds over the first three games, forming a formidable frontcourt duo with Azurá Stevens and thriving next to Chelsea Gray.
Gray isn’t just one of the best point guards in Unrivaled, but one of the best players period. She leads all players in points per game and her otherworldly playmaking has been on full display. Her passes benefit all of her teammates, but especially Austin and Stevens. Austin’s success next to Gray suggests that she could be even better in the WNBA if the Mystics added an elite passer to the roster. Olivia Miles could be just that if she is available when the Mystics make their lottery pick in the 2026 draft.
Olivia Miles is the best playmaker in the 2026 draft class
Over four mostly healthy college seasons, Olivia Miles has established herself as an elite playmaker, talented scorer, and strong rebounder. She averaged 19.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 7.6 assists, and 2 steals per game for over her first 17 contests with TCU. While her 3-point percentage isn’t quite as good as it was last season, she is still shooting it well at 36.8%—a complete turnaround compared to her first few seasons.
Going into TCU’s game against the Arizona State Sun Devils, Miles tied for fifth in total assists with Oregon’s Katie Fiso. Both dished out 130 assists. Caroline Lau, Tonie Morgan, Rory Harmon, and Jada Williams were the only players with more total assists. Miles added six assists against Arizona State, bringing her total to 136.
Because of her ability as a playmaker and shotcreator, Miles is frequently compared to Chelsea Gray. Those are big expectations to live up to. Gray is a four-time WNBA champion, a Finals MVP, a six-time All-Star, and a three-time All-WNBA team member. She has also found plenty of success overseas and in Unrivaled. As a defender, Miles is still a long way from what Gray can do, but her passing could help unlock the Mystics’ offense and get Iriafen and Austin to the next level.
After the Brittney Sykes trade, Austin and Iriafen were two of the Mystics’ three top scorers. While Sutton was a solid veteran point guard and Georgia Amoore averaged a lot of assists in college, Miles and her Chelsea-Gray-like passing may be just what the Mystics need to put Austin and Iriafen in the best possible position offensively.
The only question is whether Miles will make it past the Lynx and Storm and be available when the Mystics make their pick. Washington could also try to trade up.
