One single injury robbed the Sparks of two seasons of watching Cameron Brink play great basketball. Brink played 15 games in her rookie season before she tore her ACL. She came back from the injury in late July 2025 and played 19 games.
The Sparks saw flashes of Brink’s defense and offensive versatility, but they never saw a fully healthy, comfortable, and confident version of her. Early in her rookie season, Brink was still acclimating to her new surroundings. When she returned from her injury, she wasn’t at 100%. That should all look different next season—whenever that will start.
When Cameron Brink appeared on We Need To Talk Now, she made a surprising admission about her ACL tear. “I would say it’s probably one of the best things to ever happen to me, which sounds crazy,” she said.
She added, “I really think I just learned so many important and valuable lessons throughout it…I just really got to learn the value of hard work, and I learned my body better. I learned what I actually need to feel my best, and I think that’s what we’re all trying to do is really learn ourselves.”
If Brink is that comfortable and confident in her body after a devastating injury, she is well set up to play her best basketball yet for the Sparks.
Cameron Brink got to play a full Unrivaled season
After missing last Unrivaled season, Brink finally got to make her debut. She moved from the Lunar Owls to the Breeze, joining Paige Bueckers, Rickea Jackson, and Dominique Malonga to form the youngest team in the league.
Brink came off the bench behind Malonga and averaged 10.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks in just below 12 minutes per game. She also got her first taste of postseason basketball as a pro. The Breeze eliminated the Rose in the first round and lost to the Mist in the semifinals. The latter game was a solid effort from the young group, tough. Mist only won by four points after Arike Ogunbowale hit a clutch three.
Brink recorded 11 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 4 blocks. She showcased her ability to protect the rim and space the floor against a veteran-heavy championship squad.
Playing in Unrivaled was a great opportunity for Brink after missing so much time in the W. Besides getting in-game reps and a chance to compete against some of the best players in the world, Brink also got a chance to work with Lisa Leslie.
