The Indiana Fever recently made the decision to hire Stephanie White as their head coach. On Monday, White spoke to reporters and was asked about Fever stars Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston.

"First and foremost... They're both incredibly competitive players," White said of Clark and Boston, via the Indiana Fever. "There is a fire and a mentality that you can't teach when it comes to competitive spirit... Then you put it together and you've got the point guard and the center, are you kidding me? You got the bookends that you want to build around. These two are the best.

"I think that there's so many things that they do well right now... When you think about a (John) Stockton and (Karl) Malone), right... They (Clark and Boston) are going to go down as the greatest."

Karl Malone and John Stockton were NBA stars while playing together for the Utah Jazz. They are remembered as one of the greatest NBA duos of all-time. White believes that Boston and Clark are headed in a similar direction in the WNBA.

It goes without saying, but White's comments are bold. Her "greatest" admission is attention-catching to say the least. Sure, the Fever are still building a contending roster, but having two former Rookie of the Year players and WNBA All-Stars in Boston and Clark is destined to help the team for years to come.

White most recently coached the Connecticut Sun. However, she is from Indiana and played for the Fever during her WNBA career. She also previously coached the Fever.

In other words, White is quite familiar with the Indiana Fever. She knows what to expect. The Fever, though, have higher expectations than ever with Clark, one of the most popular players in the WNBA, on the roster.

Indiana is hoping to make a deeper postseason run in 2025. They were eliminated by the Sun in the first round of the 2024 playoffs, as White led Connecticut to a victory over the team that she is now the head coach for. Perhaps White will lead the Fever to a deep postseason run in 2025.

At the moment, the Fever are focused on improving the roster around Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston. If they can add enough depth, Indiana will emerge as a serious championship contender.

The Indiana Fever will be a team worth closely monitoring throughout both the offseason and the 2025 WNBA season.
