The Los Angeles Sparks are set to play the Chicago Sky on Sunday afternoon. LA received multiple important updates ahead of the game. The contest should be a competitive affair, but which Sparks will be available?
According to LA Sparks PR, Cameron Brink (left knee), Rae Burrell (right knee) and Julie Allemand (overseas commitment) are all out for the game. Odyssey Sims, though, is probable due to personal reasons.
The Sparks are certainly looking forward to Sims' return. The veteran guard is averaging 10.5 points, 3.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds per outing so far in the 2025 WNBA season. She is also shooting 41.9 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from beyond the arc.
Sims' impact has been important to say the least.
As for Brink, she has yet to play in a game this season. She is still recovering from an injury. Burrell has appeared in only one game in 2025 up to this point. Allemand has played in eight games (earning one start). She has averaged 2.8 points, 2.8 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game while recording 18 minutes per contest.
Los Angeles fans will want to pay close attention to the injury report as Sims prepares to potentially return. Her probable status is an encouraging sign.
Los Angeles Sparks-Chicago Sky game outlook
At 5-11, the Sparks are currently in sixth place in the Western Conference standings. LA is 10th overall in the WNBA. The Sparks entered 2025 with fairly high expectations following a difficult '24 campaign, but LA has yet to play a consistent brand of quality basketball.
The Sky have endured a similar campaign up to this point. Chicago's 4-11 record places them in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings. The Sky are 11th overall in the entire league as they prepare for the matchup on Sunday.
Chicago was a team that people were not sure what to expect from heading into the year. They featured some potential, but the team made a number of changes during the offseason. Things have not gone exactly according to plan yet, and the Sky have not played up to their expectations to say the least.
The Chicago Sky and Los Angeles Sparks will play at 4 PM EST on Sunday afternoon. Los Angeles will try to get the job done at home, but Chicago will not make things easy. Either way, it should be a competitive contest.
