Will the idea of playing alongside Caitlin Clark attract free agents to the Indiana Fever? It is a question that the Fever will attempt to answer during the offseason. Dallas Wings star Satou Sabally, who is set to become a free agent, may have answered the question via her recent social media activity.

According to Clark Report on X (formerly Twitter), Sabally recently liked comments from fans requesting her to join the Fever. Clark Report's post also includes references to a recent video Sabally shared on TikTok where she confirmed that she will be a free agent, as well as a previous quote from Sabally where she shared positive comments about Caitlin Clark.

All of this hints at Sabally and Clark joining forces, but nothing is guaranteed. The Fever have roster questions of their own to answer. Indiana needs to build a competitive roster around Clark. Sure, Clark enjoyed a tremendous rookie season but the Fever still have work to do.

Adding a star such as Satou Sabally makes sense for Indiana, but the possibility of it coming to fruition is uncertain since the Wings can core Sabally.

Satou Sabally's uncertain offseason

The Wings can core Sabally as mentioned. So what does it mean to "core" a player?

WNBA teams have the option to designate one player per free agency period as a core player. The rule allows teams to remain competitive by keeping players via their decision to core them. Players are then limited to negotiating a contract with the team who they were cored by.

However, if a player wants to leave, they can still request teams. So if Sabally truly wants to play for the Fever or somewhere else, she could ask to do so. The Wings would then have a difficult decision to make. They obviously would not want to lose one of their best players, but they also may consider moving on from Sabally if she did not want to come back.

For now, all we have is social media activity and rumors. Sabally has not definitively said that she wants to move on. There is still a chance that she will welcome a return to the Wings.

The Fever's offseason question has been answered

Regardless of whether or not the Fever add Sabally, Indiana's biggest offseason question has been answered. Stars are interested in joining forces with Caitlin Clark and playing with the Fever. Indiana will likely be aggressive in trying to add another star or two this offseason.
