Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty earned a 2024 WNBA Finals victory following a terrific season. Will Ionescu and New York enjoy a similar campaign in 2025?

The Liberty have seen some changes this offseason. For the most part, though, New York features a similar roster to 2024. As a result, they should be able to play a competitive brand of basketball once again. What should fans expect from Ionescu, though?

Let's take a look at three Sabrina Ionescu predictions for the upcoming 2025 season.

Sabrina Ionescu finishes as top 3 MVP finalist

Ionescu finished sixth in WNBA MVP voting a season ago. For part of the season, though, Ionescu looked like a true MVP candidate. An injury led to a decline in production, but she still enjoyed a quality all-around campaign. Her 18.2 points per game set a new career-high.

Ionescu struggled with her shooting efficiency, though, recording a 39.4 field goal percentage and 33.3 three-point shooting percentage. If Ionescu finds her efficiency once again while continuing to help out in other areas of the game, she will draw serious MVP consideration.

The prediction here is not that she will take home MVP honors, but look for Ionescu to finish in the top three of 2025 WNBA MVP voting.

Ionescu sets new career-high in three-point shooting percentage

Despite winning the WNBA Finals in 2024, Ionescu shot an abysmal 1-19 from the field during the final game of the series... It was a forgettable individual performance to say the least.

The disappointing effort has likely been in the back of Ionescu's mind throughout the offseason. It could work as a driving force from a motivation standpoint. It would not be surprising to see Ionescu improve and enjoy her most efficient shooting season yet in 2025.

Her previous career-high three-point shooting percentage was 44.8, something she accomplished in 2023. Surpassing that mark is going to be difficult, but Ionescu is capable of doing it.

Liberty make another WNBA Finals run

The Liberty feature one of the best rosters in the WNBA. They have an argument for being the best all-around team in the league. With Sabrina Ionescu, Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones leading the way, New York should be able to make another WNBA Finals run.

Repeating as champions is never an easy task, but the Liberty have more than enough talent to accomplish the feat. Ionescu's performance will be important in reference to determining how well the Liberty fare this year.
