New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu missed back-to-back games against the Dallas Wings on Tuesday and Thursday due to a neck injury. Ionescu, though, made it clear that she is planning to return for the Liberty's game on Saturday against the Connecticut Sun, per Liberty reporter Jackie Powell.

"Sandy Brondello said that Sabrina Ionescu told her that 'she's back' next game," Powell wrote on X (formerly Twitter) Thursday night.

Ionescu is currently listed as questionable for the game, per Liberty Lead on X. The Liberty star clearly has confidence that she will be ready for Saturday night's game. Nevertheless, New York will closely monitor her status leading up to tip-off. The team will provide further updates closer to gametime on Saturday.

Will Sabrina Ionescu play against Sun?

Ionescu is on track to earn MVP consideration in 2024. She has enjoyed an impressive all-around season. The three-time All-Star is averaging a career-high 19.9 points per contest so far during the 2024 campaign.

The Liberty hold a league leading 25-4 record. They are 3.5 games ahead of the Sun in the Eastern Conference standings as of this story's writing. It goes without saying, but the Liberty-Sun head-to-head matchup on Saturday holds plenty of importance.

Sabrina Ionescu is looking to be on the floor for the game. For now, her official availability for the affair is uncertain. Ionescu's comments will provide fans of the Liberty with hope, however.

Saturday night's game is scheduled to begin at 7 PM EST in New York as the Liberty host the Sun in what projects to be a thrilling matchup.
