Perfect Caitlin Clark teammate may have to choose between her and other young stars

Azurá Stevens would be great in Indiana.

Azurá Stevens played the best basketball of her career in the 2025 season. Fresh off an Unrivaled season that honed her offensive skillset, Stevens averaged career highs in points, rebounds, and assists per game alongside 1.2 steals and 1.1 blocks.

As a two-way big who can space the floor and just had a career year, Stevens should have options upon options in free agency—assuming that she doesn’t go to the Tempo or Fire in the expansion draft and signs with either team, of course. One possibility that has caught fans’ eyes is her fit with the Indiana Fever.

Stevens would be a great fit next to Aliyah Boston, who has recently expanded her range but hasn’t established herself as a true 3-point threat in the W yet, Cailtin Clark, and Kelsey Mitchell. But if the Fever’s front office is interested in signing Stevens, it will have to contend with several other teams that have their own young stars to sweeten the pot for the veteran—like Paige Bueckers or Angel Reese.

Azurá Stevens should have plenty of options beyond Indiana

Stevens is a very versatile player, which would allow her to be a great fit on many teams. The obvious choice besides Indiana is Los Angeles, where Stevens could re-sign to play with young stars Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson and veteran stars Kelsey Plum and Dearica Hamby.

Stevens had her career season with the Sparks, but was largely pushed into a full-time starting role because Brink was out. With Brink healthy and ready to put together her own career year, Stevens would likely be relegated to a bench role. So, she might choose to move on.

Another option for Stevens would be to join Paige Bueckers and the next number-one pick in Dallas. If the Wings choose to go with Azzi Fudd over Awa Fam or Lauren Betts, they need to upgrade the frontcourt. Stevens would be a versatile veteran option who wouldn’t take too much away from Bueckers and Fudd.

This may not be as seamless a fit, but Stevens could also draw some interest from the Sky. Playing two non-shooting bigs is difficult in today’s WNBA. Adding Stevens to the mix would give the Sky a new look with either Angel Reese or Kamilla Cardoso next to her. The Sky and Wings would also be able to offer Stevens more money than the Sparks or Fever.

Beyond that, Stevens could land with the Valkyries to team up with Juste Jocyte and Janelle Salaün, join the Storm next to Dominique Malonga if Nneka Ogwumike and/or Ezi Magebgor move on, or replace Alanna Smith on a Lynx roster that will feature the second-overall pick if Smith chooses to leave in free agency.

Playing with a young star is always exciting, and Stevens should have plenty of those to choose from this offseason.
