It's official: Dallas is Paige Bueckers' next stop in her basketball journey. Wings fans at the watch party in Arlington erupted when WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert called Bueckers' name as the first pick in the 2025 draft. Everyone knew it was coming, but that didn't make the moment any less special. Making it through the 2024 nine-win season wasn't easy, but it paid off on Monday.

Bueckers will revitalize the basketball scene in Dallas after Mavericks fans watched with horror as Luka Doncic was traded a few months ago. The Wings will be the team to watch in Texas after a busy offseason that was capped off by selecting the UConn national champion (along with Aziaha James, Madison Scott, JJ Quinerly, and Aaronette Vonleh).

Holly Rowe asked Bueckers what her message was to Dallas fans after the guard heard her name called with the No. 1 pick. Before Bueckers answered, she changed her answer to a question she was asked earlier in the night on ESPN's WNBA Countdown: Tex-Mex or BBQ?

Bueckers initially chose BBQ over Tex-Mex, but that's because she said she was unfamiliar with the Tex-Mex term. She changed her answer to Tex-Mex in her draft interview. Wings fans didn't think it was possible to love Bueckers even more.

Bueckers' personality is one of the many things that make her Paige Bueckers, and it stood out in her interview. She won't have much free time to explore Dallas/the surrounding area with the start of training camp around the corner, but her teammates will certainly be able to point her toward their favorite Tex-Mex spots.

After making it known she prefers Tex-Mex, Bueckers said she's excited to be in a new city and get a fresh start. She spent the past five years in Connecticut, capping her time there with her long-awaited national championship. She hopes to carry that same energy to the Wings, an organization that hasn't won a title since moving to Dallas.

Fans hope that Bueckers will remain with the Wings for years to come. If that happens, there will be plenty of Tex-Mex in her future.
