The 2026 WNBA season may feel like it's in jeopardy, but one thing is becoming clear: once a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) is signed, Caitlin Clark is back.
On Friday Clark shared a series of photos and video from a recent workout in the Indiana Fever's practice gym in Indianapolis. Though she kept things pretty low key (Clark simply captioned the post shared on social media, "friday at the office πΌππ©΅βοΈ"), fans were anything but. The latest update from the Fever star spurred plenty of strong responses from fans who, simply put, cannot wait for a 2026 WNBA season to begin.
Caitlin Clark looks fully recovered from her injury
As many Fever fans can all too painfully recall, Clark missed most of the 2025 WNBA season with a series of injuries she never quite recovered from. Things started in the preseason when she strained a quad; that turned into a series of groin injuries, and Clark's season was ultimately capped with an ankle injury that set her entire recovery back. It was a tough end to what many hoped would be a banner year for the Indiana Fever.
(In a lot of ways, it still was: the Fever found a way to continuously dig deep as the team battled Clark's injury but also the injuries of several other members of the team; they made it all the way to the playoffs with a roster that didn't resemble the one they started the season with, but that almost made it to the Championship game.)
But these new photos and video show flashes of the Caitlin Clark that fans have been clamoring to see since she was in college. Clark looks healthy and strong β and absolutely ready to hit the ground running once the 2026 WNBA season begins.
The 2026 WNBA season will start in May... probably
Of course, without a new CBA, it's difficult to predict when that beginning might be. Though the season is scheduled to start at the beginning of May, there's a lot that has to be decided and agreed upon before that can actually happen. A new agreement between the players and the league is the first step; after that, the Toronto Tempo and Portland Fire need to hold expansion drafts, free agency needs to begin, and the 2026 WNBA Draft needs to be held.
All of those steps can happen relatively quickly once the crucial first one takes place β and, hopefully, that will happen soon.
