The Minnesota Lynx lead the entire WNBA with a stellar 12-1 record. Star forward Napheesa Collier is currently dealing with a back injury, though. According to Lynx PR, Collier (low back) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Washington Mystics.
Collier is a serious MVP candidate. She finished second in WNBA MVP voting a season ago and is on track to earn strong consideration once again.
Collier, 28, is a four-time All-Star who is averaging 24.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. The superstar is shooting 52.4 percent from the field and 42.1 percent from three-point land as well. She would be a serious candidate to win the award if the WNBA campaign ended today.
A'ja Wilson is likely the best overall player in the league but Collier is entering that conversation as well. The Lynx star does just about everything well on the floor and Minnesota is becoming a legitimate championship contender as she leads the way. It would not be surprising to see Collier take home the MVP while leading the Lynx to the WNBA Finals once again.
Minnesota fell just short of winning the championship a season ago, as the New York Liberty defeated the Lynx in a competitive series. As a result, the Lynx surely have plenty of motivation as they try to get the job done in 2025.
Lynx hope to have Napheesa Collier for game vs. Mystics
The current focus, of course, is on Tuesday night's contest against the Mystics. Washington will not be an easy team to defeat. The Mystics are 6-8 overall -- which is not a tremendous record by any means but they are still capable of pulling off the upset. The game is also being played in Washington, something that will give the Mystics an advantage.
Fans will want to closely monitor Napheesa Collier's injury status ahead of the game. Her questionable status suggests she could be available, but nothing has been confirmed as of this story's publication. Minnesota does not want to risk further injury so there may be hesitation displayed as a result. If the team decides that Collier is ready to go, however, then the Lynx will likely have their best player on the floor on Tuesday night.
The Mystics will host the Lynx at 8 PM EST on Tuesday as Minnesota hopes to improve their already impressive record.
