It seems unfair, but the Lynx just won the second overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft despite finishing the regular season with the best record in the league. They have a plethora of choices, too, depending on what the Wings do with the number one pick.
If Dallas doesn’t select Awa Fam, Minnesota could be the perfect place for her development. At the same time, a player with Azzi Fudd’s 3-point shot would undoubtedly thrive in Cheryl Reeve’s system. Lauren Betts would provide the kind of size the Lynx have lacked in the paint in recent years. Moreover, Olivia Miles could be an interesting fit in Minnesota. As a traditional point guard with an absurd passing ability and a much-improved 3-point shot, she could easily slide into the Lynx’s thin guard rotation, especially if they lose one of Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman in the expansion draft or free agency, or decide that it's time for a change in the backcourt.
Miles going to Minnesota would be an absolute heartbreak for the Seattle Storm.
Olivia Miles is the Storm’s dream draft prospect
This is the second time in a row that the Storm will have a lottery pick despite making the playoffs. In the 2025 WNBA Draft, they had the Sparks’ second overall pick due to the Jewell Loyd trade. In 2026, they own the Sparks’ pick once again due to a 2024 trade that sent Kia Nurse and the pick that turned into Rickea Jackson to Los Angeles. They will get to pick third overall.
The Storm navigated a two-timeline approach in the 2025 season, slowly bringing along Dominique Malonga behind veterans Nneka Ogwumike and Ezi Magbegor. Malonga was the youngest player in the league but quickly developed into a capable rotational player and was one of the bright spots during the Storm’s short-lived playoff run. If Skylar Diggins, Nneka Ogwumike, and Gabby Williams re-sign with the Storm in free agency, they will get to continue their two-timeline approach.
Olivia Miles would be the perfect addition to the team. She could learn from Diggins, play significant minutes on a competitive team, and prepare for the next era of Storm basketball. With a center like Malonga already in place, a point guard of Miles’ caliber would be the perfect player to develop alongside her. Miles and Malonga could quickly turn into the next great guard-big duo in the W. If Miles is not available when the Storm get to make their pick, they will have to pivot to another guard.
While Miles would be the perfect fit, there are other intriguing prospects. The Storm desperately need 3-point shooting, and Azzi Fudd would fill that need better than anyone. Flau’jae Johnson could provide a young two-way presence next to Malonga, and Ta’Niya Latson was the Division 1 leading scorer in the 2024-25 season.
