LSU women's basketball was defeated by UCLA on Sunday, losing 72-65. A frightening moment occurred during the game, as it appeared as if LSU star Aneesah Morrow may have broken her nose. After the game, Morrow revealed that her nose was not broken, however.
"Aneesah Morrow says postgame that she did not break her nose; it was just bleeding. Regardless, said she’s 'tough' and wanted to come back and compete for her team," Alexa Philippou of ESPN reported on X (formerly Twitter).
LSU enjoyed a strong season overall. Morrow and Flau'Jae Johnson led the way. Although it was a disappointing defeat, the good news is that Morrow avoided a broken nose.
Aneesah Morrow's season with LSU women's basketball
Morrow, 22, averaged 18.8 points, 13.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 2.5 steals per outing in the 2024-25 season. She shot 49.4 percent from the field as well. Morrow, a forward, has continued to improve. It will be intriguing to see what her basketball future holds.
Morrow will be among the top prospects in the 2025 WNBA Draft. She could even end up being a top five pick. If not, Morrow will surely be a top 10 selection. The Golden State Valkyries, Connecticut Sun or Washington Mystics could be respectable landing destinations for her in the draft.
Morrow gave all she had in her final college basketball game. Although she confirmed that her nose was not broken, she was still surely in pain given the nose injury. Yet, Morrow wanted to continue to play in an effort to help her team. LSU fell short in the end, but Morrow will be remembered as a star at the program.
Flau'Jae Johnson still deciding on 2025 WNBA Draft
As for Aneesah Morrow's teammate, Flau'Jae Johnson, she is still deciding if she will enter the 2025 WNBA Draft. Johnson would instantly become one of the top prospects in the draft if she decides to leave the college basketball level. It remains to be seen what her next step will be, though.
If Johnson joins Morrow in the 2025 WNBA Draft, LSU would lose two stars. Nevertheless, the LSU women's basketball program often does a quality job of recruiting and rebuilding quickly. Still, they probably would not mind having Johnson on the roster for another season.
Either way, both players have made a significant impact at LSU over the past couple of years.
