The Texas Longhorns logged a powerful 77-64 win against the LSU Tigers Thursday night, a strong reminder that the team, who made it to the Final Four last season, are waging a strong battle toward making it all the way to the Championship game this year in Phoenix.

The team's coach Vic Schaefer had plenty to celebrate while speaking to reporters last night, but he also had a strong message for the voting bloc this year: Rori Harmon deserves a lot more of your attention. "When [Rori Harmon's] done playing, y'all ... The numbers that she's gonna have, there won't be another player in the history of women's college basketball," he insisted. "And yet she still hadn't been awarded the [Nancy Lieberman Award for] point guard of the year."

Schaefer also insisted that Harmon deserves "way more" attention than she's received from everyone. "I've had some really good players in my career, but I haven't had anybody like her," he added, before pointing out that Harmon's stats will ultimately end up proving his point.

The Nancy Lieberman Award honors the best point guard in the country

The Nancy Lieberman Award is a major one for women's college basketball players as it recognizes the person considered the top point guard in the entire country. Though there are other awards and recognitions Harmon could receive, Schaefer made it clear that that was the one he thinks is the most appropriate. Harmon has been named as part of the top 10 list for the award, but she hasn't won it in her five seasons with the school.

Though Harmon isn't necessarily known for racking up massive points during a game, she's a complete player who fully understands how to lead the team. She's also humble, and doesn't mind shooting the ball to someone else who might have a better shot. She's averaging 9.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 3.0 steals this season.

Thursday night's game offered a look at Harmon at her best. She racked up 11 points, five assists, and six steals and managed to break Texas' all-time steal record in the process of doing so. She also holds the school's all-time assist record, and is the only player currently playing D1 women's basketball who owns both records for their school.

The mid-season watch list includes a lot of talent

In addition to Harmon, the mid-season watch list for the Nancy Lieberman Award includes Liv McGill, Tonie Morgan, Zoe Brooks, Britt Prince, Hannah Hidalgo, Aaliyah Chavez, Raven Johnson, Olivia Miles, and Kiki Rice.
