The New York Liberty remain in first place in the Eastern Conference standings. However, although they are 11-4 overall, New York has been without Leonie Fiebich in recent weeks due to EuroBasket. That will change soon, though, as Fiebich prepares to return to the Liberty after playing in EuroBasket with Germany.

Fiebich scored 20 points and enjoyed an overall strong effort in Germany's final EuroBasket contest, according to Alford Corriette. Liberty guard Natasha Cloud is certainly excited about Fiebich's return, as she quoted Coriette's post on X (formerly Twitter).

"Proud of you captain," Cloud wrote. "Bring your a** home."

What Leonie Fiebich brings to Liberty

Fiebich, 25, is currently in her second WNBA season. She is averaging 6.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per outing across nine games played so far in the '25 campaign. Fiebich is shooting 53.8 percent from the field and 48 percent from beyond the arc. In 2024, her first WNBA campaign, she recorded per game averages of 6.7 points and 3.0 rebounds per contest.

The 6'4" forward is able to make an impact in the paint while also offering the ability to stretch the floor. Her all-around game provides New York with important versatility. The team is looking forward to her upcoming return.

Cloud, a 33-year-old veteran guard, is in the middle of her first season in New York. She is averaging 8.4 points, 6.5 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. Cloud is capable of leading an offense while making an impact on the defensive end of the floor. New York is looking to defend its championship after winning it all in 2024 and having a veteran such as Cloud on the roster will only help matters.

Liberty looking to continue playing well

As mentioned, New York leads the Eastern Conference. The 10-6 Atlanta Dream are only a game and a half behind the Liberty in the standings, though. Additionally, the Liberty trail the 13-2 Minnesota Lynx for the best overall record in the WNBA.

New York is certainly among the favorites to win the WNBA Finals once again. The Lynx have looked unstoppable at times, though. The Dream appear to be a legitimate contender. Teams such as the Phoenix Mercury, Seattle Storm and Indiana Fever should not be forgotten. The Golden State Valkyires have enjoyed a strong first season in the league as a WNBA expansion team.

This Liberty squad is dealing with no shortage of competition. Leonie Fiebich's return should help them continue to lead the Eastern Conference, however.
