The Dallas Wings had no way of stopping Kayla McBride. She led the Minnesota Lynx to a 103-90 win with 43 points on 16-21 shooting from the field and a record-setting ten made 3-pointers. The previous league record for made 3-pointers in a game was nine. McBride broke that record incredibly efficiently. She only missed four shots from deep.
McBride made it all about the team, complimenting Olivia Miles, in particular, for putting her in a position to set this new WNBA record and a career high.
“The last time I played with a true point guard was Courtney Vandersloot, and it was some of the best, most fun basketball that I played,” McBride said in the postgame media availability, per a video on the Lynx’s YouTube channel. “And it’s not that I haven’t had amazing moments with Court, but there’s just something about playing with a true PG that just as a shooter, you get that ball on the laces with that velocity. It’s just like a kid in a candy store.”
Cheryl Reeve, meanwhile, made sure to highlight how great McBride has been in her thirteenth WNBA season.
“She’s an All-WNBA player,” Reeve said after the game. “It’s disgraceful she wasn’t an All-Star. All-WNBA player who chased Paige [Bueckers] around while dropping 43.”

McBride is 34 years old. Many players who play for as long as she has start to regress sometime around their mid-thirties. McBride, meanwhile, is thriving, averaging a career-high 18.4 points per game, while taking more shots than ever and sinking 42.4% of her 3-point attempts.
The last time McBride averaged 18 points per game was in 2018 over 31 games with the Las Vegas Aces. She was an All-Star that year. She was also named an All-Star in 2024 and 2025—great seasons, but not quite as productive scoring-wise as this year.
The Lynx were well-represented in Chicago with Olivia Miles, Natasha Howard, and Courtney Williams playing in the All-Star game, but McBride is making her omission look like a serious snub—and not just with her record 10 3-pointers. She has now outpaced Rhyne Howard for most 3-pointers made this season. The only player in the top ten who is shooting a better percentage from deep than McBride is Kelsey Mitchell. On top of that, she ranks thirteenth in points per game—ahead of some players who did make the All-Star game—and eighth in steals per game.
There will always be deserving players who don’t make the All-Star game, but, despite that omission, there is no doubt that the Lynx wouldn’t be the contenders they are without McBride.
