The 2025 season was a resounding success for the Fever. Despite going into the playoffs without Caitlin Clark, Aari McDonald, Sophie Cunningham, Sydney Colson, and Chloe Bibby, the Fever went all the way to Game 5 of the semifinals. Game 5 came down to the wire. Kelsey Mitchell went down in the third quarter and couldn’t finish the game. She had to go to the hospital to be treated for Rhabdomyolysis. Aliyah Boston also couldn’t finish the game because she fouled out. Nevertheless, the Fever sent the game into overtime behind an heroic effort from Odyssey Sims.

Despite the tough loss, the Fever can go into the offseason with a good feeling. They defied the odds, overcame adversity, and set the foundation for many more deep playoff runs in the future. Aliyah Boston is already thinking about the team’s future—and a championship.

“A championship is always on my mind,” Boston said in the Fever’s postgame press conference. “We got a taste of it—Game 5 of the semifinals—and now we want the real thing.”

The Fever are set up well for a successful future

The WNBPA and the league are currently locked into CBA negotiations that aren’t going well. So, the offseason is still full of uncertainty. No one knows how free agency will go, how the expansion drafts will go down, or if a lockout can be avoided. One thing the Fever know, however, is that they have Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark under contract and that Kelsey Mitchell loves to play for Stephanie White.

Having a big three like that and a coach who immediately established a winning culture should be enough to allow the Fever to build a strong contender—hopefully one that won’t have to rely on several hardship players to step in and leave everything they have to give on the court.

So, Boston’s goal isn’t unrealistic at all. The Fever are set up well for the future and that future may very well include a championship.

Aliyah Boston will play in Unrivaled this offseason

Aliyah Boston had a career season this year. She played all 44 regular-season games plus eight playoff games. Averaging 15 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, Boston earned her third All-Star selection. During the postseason, she was the Fever’s third-leading scorer and top rebounder. She also ranked second in assists per game behind Odyssey Sims.

Boston is already a star in the WNBA, but she is only 23 years old and has plenty of room to grow. This offseason, she will play in Unrivaled to prepare for the next WNBA season and the Fever’s championship chase. Her first Unrivaled outing this winter was far from Boston’s best season, but being around many of the best WNBA players and having great training facilities will still be beneficial.
