Paige Bueckers and No. 2 Connecticut will get their first real test of the season on Friday against No. 14 North Carolina.
The Tar Heels are 3-0 on the season with wins over Charleston Southern, UNCW, and NC A&T. Grad student Lexi Donarski is averaging a team-high 15 points per game, followed by grad student Alyssa Ustby, who is averaging 10.7 points per contest.
UConn and UNC played last season in December, a 76-64 Huskies win. Bueckers led Connecticut with 26 points (11-of-14), four blocks, two rebounds, and two steals. 2024 WNBA draftees Aaliyah Edwards (16) and Nika Mühl (12) also scored double digits.
Don't be surprised if Sarah Strong has her best game of the season in her first collegiate matchup against a ranked opponent. Strong moved to North Carolina in fifth grade after spending her first 10 years in Spain. The Tar Heels recruited Strong, but she left the state for a better program.
There will be several fans in the stands supporting the freshman phenom.
