Forward’s impeding WNBA return could heavily impact Lynx’s draft decision

While the Lynx’s season didn’t end on a high note, they were the top team in the regular season and should return to championship contention, barring some shocking departures in free agency. Nevertheless, the Lynx will have a lottery pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft because of two trades with the Chicago Sky. In 2024, the Lynx traded first-round picks with the Sky, so the latter could select Angel Reese in exchange for the right to swap first-round picks in 2026. This year, the Sky acquired the eleventh pick, and, in exchange, the Lynx won’t have to swap picks anymore. They just outright own the Sky’s pick.

Since the Sky finished the season at the bottom of the league, the Lynx currently have the second-best odds to win the top pick. Even if they don’t get the first pick, they will get to add a thrilling young talent to an All-Star core. The Lynx could go in two very different directions with their lottery pick (given that both players are still available when the Lynx make their pick). They could select Lauren Betts to add some much-needed size to their frontcourt rotation or bring in Olivia Miles, the best point guard in the draft, to strengthen a somewhat weak guard rotation and add 3-point shooting.

Dorka Juhasz and her future WNBA plans could impact that decision and lead to the Lynx choosing a player who could be their guard for the future instead of another young big.

Dorka Juhasz didn’t play in the WNBA this season

Dorka Juhasz first joined the Lynx in 2023 after they drafted her in the second round. At 6’5”, the Hungarian youngster provided important size, interior scoring, and rebounding. She averaged 24.2 minutes per game as a rookie. Her role shrank in the 2024 season when the Lynx signed Alanna Smith in free agency. Juhasz still played 16.1 minutes per game in the regular season. By the time the playoffs rolled around, she played significantly less.

Nevertheless, Juhasz is an interesting young talent and one of two players under contract with the Lynx for the 2026 season. She sat out the 2025 season to recover after playing in the W and overseas for two years straight.

If she returns to the WNBA next season, she could be an impactful backup for Smith—assuming Smith re-signs in free agency, of course.

Juhasz has put together some strong performances in Turkey

Juhasz is spending the 2025-26 season playing for the Turkish club Galatasaray Cagdas Factoring Istanbul. So far, Juhasz has played four Turkish league games and five EuroLeague games. While the season is still early, Juhasz has already recorded back-to-back 20-point games, including a double-double.

She scored 21 points against Sopron and grabbed ten rebounds. She then followed that performance up with a 24-point game in a clutch 75-71 win over Mersin. Most impressively, Juhasz went 5-8 from three—a volume and accuracy she never displayed in her two seasons in the WNBA.

Juhasz may not have the obvious star potential that 2026 draft prospects Lauren Betts and Awa Fam have, but she is still an intriguing young prospect. If she can bring the kind of play she has shown in EuroLeague to the WNBA, and the Lynx are bought into developing her, it may make drafting someone who could be the team’s guard of the future more appealing.
