Another strong game from Ajsa Sivka.

After 34 losses and some issues between Angel Reese and the front office after a controversial interview, which resulted in a half-game suspension, the Sky didn’t end the 2025 season on a high note. Once a new CBA is in effect, the Sky will enter a free agency period that could see Ariel Atkins, whom they traded the third overall pick in this year’s draft for, walk away and Reese ask for a trade. The Sky’s win-now approach didn’t work out and they have to figure out a way to bounce back.

Getting Ajsa Sivka to come to the W would be one easy way to instill some hope and optimism in Sky fans. Sivka was the Sky’s first-round pick in this year’s draft, but didn’t come to Chicago after getting drafted. She played for the Slovenian national team in the summer and is spending the 2025-26 season in Spain, showcasing why the Sky drafted her tenth overall.

Her 3-point shooting, which would make her a thrilling frontcourt partner for Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, was on full display in her most recent outing.

Ajsa Sivka is playing well in Spain so far

Ajsa Sivka’s best game of the 2025-26 season came against Estudiantes when she sank seven 3-pointers on her way to 25 points. Her October 26 game against Spar Gran Canaria was a close second.

Sivka recorded 16 points on 6-9 shooting, including four made 3-pointers. She was Joventut Badalona’s third-leading scorer and finished tied for the highest plus/minus. The 19-year-old displayed her full scoring potential. She put the ball on the floor to drive to the basket, sank smooth catch-and-shoot threes, and even hit some shots off the dribble.

Sky fans should be excited for Sivka to come to the W

Sivka is a versatile young forward, who could be a key piece for the Sky for years to come. The Sky’s 2025 roster featured four players under the age of 26: Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso, Hailey Van Lith, and Maddy Westbeld. The latter two didn’t play much in their rookie seasons, Cardoso and Reese both don’t have reliable 3-point shots, and Reese may not be in Chicago long-term.

So, bringing in a young 6’3” forward who can space the floor and has experience playing professional basketball would be a blessing for the Sky’s upcoming season and beyond.

Rebuilds are never easy, and the Sky have been struggling with the process of balancing their young players’ development, building a cohesive roster around them, and their desire to win. Bringing Sivka to the WNBA isn’t the only thing the Sky’s front office has to accomplish before the next season. They need to take advantage of what promises to be a wild free agency period and build a better roster than they did this winter.
