The Indiana Fever have advanced to the semi-final round of the WNBA playoffs after beating the No.3 seeded Atlanta Dream 87-85 in a must win Game 3 on Thursday night. The Fever forced a Game 3 scenario back in Atlanta after winning in dominating fashion at home in Game 2 on Tuesday night marking Indiana's first home playoff win since 2016. It has taken full out effort from everyone since Indiana entered the playoffs with a still very depleted roster. This victory shocked many except the Fever, who have lived by the mentality: 'next player up' all season.
The unsung hero for the Fever in their semi-final clinching game - Lexie Hull. An amazing play from Hull doomed the Dream's chances. After a reset timeout inbound for Atlanta with only 7.4 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Hull snagged an inbound pass attempt from Rhyne Howard sinking any glimmer of hope the Dream had of capturing a win. Odyssey Sims was then fouled on the play sending her to the free throw line draining one of two attempts extending the Fever's lead to 87-85. The Dream would lose the game on an unsuccessful three-point attempt by Brionna Jones as time expired.

Lexie Hull's heroics haven't been anything new for the Fever this season
Hull's game sealing steal was the biggest moment of their Game 3 win without a doubt, but she also made a big play sinking a layup with 43 seconds left that cut the Dream's lead to just one. Hull is all hustle. When really analyzing her style, there's one thing that will always stick out: Lexie Hull never stops moving on the floor. She is constantly setting herself up in the best position. Her 6'1" frame doesn't limit her ability to disguise herself in the corner which is where she is most lethal from three-point range. She is prolific at following her teammates shots all the way to the basket showing she has polished her rebounding skills.
Hull finished Game 3 with 10 points, two rebounds and two steals contributing to all five of the Fever's starters hitting double figures. Lexie Hull has done it all for the Fever this season and really embraced her starting role due to all of the season ending injuries they've faced. At the midway point of the season, she once led the entire WNBA in the 3-point percentage (57%) and was averaging 12 points per game. It should also be noted that Hull has been Indiana's best defensive player all season and is the best in the league at drawing offensive fouls (12).
Her fan favorite status grew even larger in 2025, but the Fever's work isn't done. They head into the semi final round against the league's hottest team, Las Vegas Aces. Indiana will undoubtedly need quality minutes from Hull to give them a strong chance at success. She gives them size along with Aliyah Boston and Natasha Howard against a strong middle for Las Vegas which includes the league's top MVP candidate, Aja Wilson.
Game 1 of the semi final round begins Sunday in Vegas at 3:00 PM on ABC.
