On Monday, the Indiana Fever announced they waived rookie guard Bree Hall, the No. 20 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Indiana also waived veteran forward Jillian Alleyne, who previously signed a training camp deal with the team.

Hall didn't play in Indiana's first preseason game against Washington on Saturday, but did play against the Brazilian National Team the following day. She finished with nine points and four rebounds in Indiana's 106-44 win on Sunday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena at the University of Iowa.

The 21-year-old spent four seasons at South Carolina, where she was part of two championships.

Hall reacted to the news on social media, posting an Instagram story with the caption, "thankful for the opportunity. looking forward to what's next!"

Her time in Indiana was a lot shorter than she hoped for, but she can view the last few weeks as a learning experience. She got to spend training camp with what should be one of the best WNBA teams in the league, which has several players with championship experience, including DeWanna Bonner and Natasha Howard. Hall had to have learned a thing or two from the vets.

WNBA fans are already clamoring for Hall to sign with a new team before the regular season starts next week, but because each team can only carry a maximum of 12 players, she might have to wait a bit longer to get her next opportunity. Her best bet might be eventually signing a hardship contract, giving Hall a chance to prove her worth.

Hall's defensive prowess could be what helps her earn her next contract. Dawn Staley called her an "elite defender" and said Hall is on her "all-time defensive team." Staley said Hall "relishes a challenge" on that end of the court, which could also be applied to her current situation. Hall knew the transition to the W wouldn't be easy, and based on her Instagram post, she has the right mindset.

Hopefully, Hall will end up with a new team sooner rather than later. In the meantime, you can bet she'll keep working!
