The Fever finished the season with a tough overtime loss to the Las Vegas Aces in Game 5 of the semifinals, but could still enter the offseason with a sense of pride and accomplishment. After the many injuries the team suffered and the many new players that were forced to take on big roles on the fly, making the semifinals and pushing the eventual champions to the brink were huge accomplishments. The Fever’s 2025 run speaks to the culture Stephanie White built and promises a bright future

It also sets the perfect stage for what may be the biggest free agency period in recent memory. Almost every veteran in the league will be a free agent in the winter. That, plus the leverage of having a great young core and a winning culture, opens the doors for the Fever to bring in the perfect players to build a true championship contender around Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, and Kelsey Mitchell.

One player who would be a perfect fit for the Fever just had a career season. Azura Stevens took her offensive game to the next level with the Sparks after playing in Unrivaled in the winter. The Fever found a lot of success with former Sparks players. Aari McDonald, Odyssey Sims, and Shey Peddy all helped get the Fever through their injury troubles after stints with the Sparks.

Azura Stevens would be a great frontcourt partner for Aliyah Boston

Aliyah Boston is one of the best young bigs in the game. She is a good defender in the paint, has a strong post game, and is an excellent passer. However, she isn’t a true 3-point threat yet. So, the Fever really need someone who can space the floor next to Boston. Natasha Howard doesn’t necessarily fit that mould, but was still able to help the Fever find success in the 2025 season.

While Howard provided important production and veteran experience, it may be time for the Fever to chase a different type of frontcourt player. Azura Stevens offers just the skill set the Fever could use next to Boston.

Stevens is a solid defender with the size to bother bigs and the mobility to hold her own against quicker players. Stevens is also an excellent defensive rebounder and averaged 1.2 steals and 1.1 blocks per game in the 2025 season.

Offensively, Stevens’s biggest asset may just be her 3-point shot. She shot 38.1% on 4.4 attempts this past season.

Stevens will be an unrestricted free agent

Like most veterans, Stevens will have the ability to negotiate with any team during free agency. 2025 was her third season with the Sparks and she played an integral role this year, starting all 44 games and playing almost 30 minutes per game. The Sparks will probably try to retain her in free agency, but the Fever could still make a compelling case for her to leave LA.

Stevens started next to Dearica Hamby primarily because Cameron Brink was out for most of the season with an ACL tear she suffered in her rookie year. Brink should be back at full strength next season, and the Sparks will undoubtedly want to start their young centerpiece. If Hamby also re-signs with the Sparks, Stevens would likely be relegated to a bench role.

The Fever could offer her a starting spot if they really wanted to and a chance to compete at the highest level. LA is also gearing up for playoff success, but the Fever have already proven that they can get there.
