Caitlin Clark's Fever teammate makes big offseason move
Many WNBA fans have called for Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark to join Unrivaled. However, Clark is seemingly going to use the offseason to work on her game, rest and even golf a little bit. However, on Wednesday it was announced that Clark's Fever teammate, Lexie Hull, will play in Unrivaled, per Unrivaled Basketball.
Hull became the 29th player to join the league. For those who may not be aware, Unrivaled is a league that was founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier. It is a 3v3 league and it is set to begin in January in Miami. Although some stars have decided not to play, many of the best players in the WNBA will participate in Unrivaled this offseason.
Lexie Hull may not be a superstar but she is a good player who will help her Unrivaled team.
What Lexie Hull will offer Unrivaled Basketball
The 25-year-old just finished her third season in the WNBA. Hull averaged 5.5 points while shooting 44.1 percent from the field and 47.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Hull's three-point shooting improvement is undeniable. She shot just 18.6 percent on 1.7 three-point attempts per outing in her rookie season and 21.7 percent on 2.0 attempts per game in 2023. In 2024, however, Hull found her footing and shot an attention-catching 47.1 percent on 2.1 three-point attempts per contest.
It is difficult to say exactly what led to Hull's remarkable improvement. Perhaps simply playing on a better team, as the Fever reached the postseason, led to more open looks. One has to imagine that confidence played a big role as well.
Whatever the reason was, though, Hull has become one of the better three-point shooters in the WNBA. Hull can contribute in other facets of the game as well, but her shooting will be her greatest asset for the 3v3 league.
Will Caitlin Clark join Unrivaled?
Unrivaled has not announced the 30th player to join the league, as Hull was announced as the 29th player. There is a chance that it could end up being Clark, but all signs have indicated toward the Fever star taking the offseason off from competitive basketball. Still, Clark potentially participating cannot be ruled out yet.
Clark did not have much time to rest before this offseason. The WNBA Draft quickly followed the end of the college basketball season last year, so Clark did not have much time off between the end of the Iowa women's basketball season and the beginning of the Fever's 2024 campaign.
WNBA fans will surely pay close attention to Unrivaled as they prepare to announce the 30th player to join the league.
