Caitlin Clark's signature shoe is going to include exciting technology that hasn't been used in a basketball shoe before, the Indiana Fever guard told Jason and Travis Kelce on their "New Heights" podcast in a clip shared online this week.
Clark, who is often photographed wearing shoes designed by and released under the Kobe Bryant brand, explained that there are a few pairs that have technology that impacts how the heel of your foot hits the floor. She's able to "tell a huge difference" when she plays in those, and realized that she'd love to have techology that works well for her in her own shoes.
Coming up with what that looks and feels like has "been a huge part of the process and the creation of the shoe," she added. "The technology that we're going to put into it isn't anything that they've ever put into a basketball shoe before, so I'm really excited about that."
Caitlin Clark's signature shoe will be available in 2026
Nike released the first-ever ad for Clark's signature shoe on Christmas Day. When it comes to Nike shoe ads, the day is prime real estate that has historically been reserved for releases from NBA players.
The shoe is part of a massive $28 million deal Clark signed with the brand soon after she was drafted as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
The logo for Clark's signature shoe and all associated products was unveiled back in August 2025. At the time, Nike simultaneously introduced Clark as a signature athlete in a press release. The brand explained Clark will "continue to work side-by-side with experts across the brand to help shape the future of basketball: fueling hoops culture, growing the women’s game and empowering the next generation" and added that a yellow and blue shirt Caitlin Clark shirt will be available on Nike's website beginning September 1.
In July NBA and WNBA footwear insider Nick DePaula told Front Office Sports he believes Nike decided to intentionally take a long time to release the shoe to ensure that the design is exactly right — otherwise the brand would be at high risk of losing a lot of money. "They want to get it right,"DePaula said. "... I think when Caitlin's shoe comes out it can be a $150 million business. It could become a top five signature franchise across basketball."
