The Atlanta Dream provided an injury update on Jordin Canada Friday, via Meghan L. Hall of For The Win.

"Update on Jordin Canada: Per the Dream, Canada was evaluated and has been diagnosed with a right knee injury. (Details on the injury were not specified.) She’ll be re-evaluated in 2 weeks," Hall wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Canada, 29, has played at the WNBA level since 2018. She made her debut in the league with the Seattle Storm. Canada has since established a reputation as one of the better defenders in the WNBA.

After playing in Seattle from 2018-2021, she joined the Las Vegas Aces in 2022. After two years in Las Vegas, Canada ended up with the Dream in 2024. She is set to spend 2025 in Atlanta as well, but is now recovering from the aforementioned knee injury.

In 2024, Canada averaged 10.6 points, 5.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.6 steals per outing. She shot 39 percent from the field as well.

For her career, Canada has averaged 9.0 points and 4.9 assists per game. It goes without saying, but Atlanta is hoping that Canada will not have to miss too much time. As Hall mentioned, Canada will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Dream preparing for 2025 WNBA season

The Dream have made an effort to improve the roster. Brittney Griner was among their offseason additions. Atlanta should have a realistic opportunity to make a run at a postseason spot in 2025.

This is a Dream team that finished as the No. 8 seed a season ago. Their 15-25 record does not exactly jump off the page, but it was good enough to keep them in postseason contention. The Fever would obviously love to finish with a record of above .500 during the upcoming campaign, however.

Accomplishing that goal will not be an easy task. Many teams around the WNBA drastically improved their rosters this past offseason. There will be plenty of competition for the playoff spots this year.

Still, the Dream project to be a contender. They will be an intriguing team to follow throughout the campaign. Jordin Canada's injury situation will be something to monitor over the next few weeks. The Dream will provide updates on her status as they are made available.

Meanwhile, the Dream will play the Indiana Fever in their final preseason game on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 PM EST.
