Angel Reese is meeting the moment. In the span of one week, Reese was made the face of NBA 2K26, Reebok offered the first photos of her signature sneaker, and it was revealed she's leading the league in rebounds — with or without her reclaimed "mebounds" factored in. In every way that counts, Reese is letting her work on the court do her talking for her this season, and the results are worth it.
Angel Reese's entire game is improving
Reese is at the top of the list with 255 rebounds, and her next closest competition is the Sparks' Azura Stevens, who has racked up 172 so far this season. But it's not just rebounding — Reese has improved nearly every single part of her game, from her footwork to her shooting. Her defensive prowess is strong and her assists are improving. She's averaging 13.5 points and 12.8 rebounds so far this season, and she recently helped lead the Sky to an impressive (and unexpected) 87-81 victory over the Lynx.

On July 9, NBA 2k announced Reese will be on the cover of the game's WNBA edition, NBA 2K26. And while the news ruffled some feathers, it's been more broadly greeted with wide support from inside and outside of the league.
In fact, Sabrina Ionescu, who was on the cover of the 2024 edition of the game, told reporters she's thrilled for Reece to succeed her. "Everyone knows who's on the cover every single year. There's this anticipation and I'm really happy for [Angel] to be able to see her kind of get her flowers so early in on her career just knowing that I was able to be on it and how much that meant for my family," she explained (via Sports Illustrated).

Just a kid from Baltimore, turning dreams into reality and hoping I can inspire young women and men everywhere to do the same.

Also on July 9, Reebok unveiled Reese's first signature shoe. Reese has been the face of Reebok Basketball for the last two years, and her shoe release has been highly anticipated. The Diamond Dust colorway has a special meaning to Reese, who noted on X, "The most brilliant diamonds take pressure, polish, and time. Reebok is back—and the diamonds are shining brighter than ever."
Reese is the 11th basketball player and the second WNBA player to have their own signature shoe with the company. She joined Reebok as a college student at LSU and signed a multi-year extension deal with the brand after she was drafted into the league in 2024.
