Angel Reese will not be playing in Unrivaled for the professional 3x3 league's second season, a reality that has disappointed fans but will likely end up benefitting the Chicago Sky star in the long run — at least, in terms of her mental and emotional wellbeing.

While many have assumed Reese's ongoing wrist injury had something to do with her decision-making process, she also recently appeared to hint at a deeper reason for not playing during the offseason as well. Earlier this week a fan noted that Reese has been "MIA" on social media, and the 23-year-old took the time to address the comment.

"That was the goal for this offseason," she wrote on X on November 3. "Quietly minding my business so everybody won’t mind MINE." In other words, Reese is laying low because she needs a little bit of a break, and after the media speculation that followed seemingly every decision or comment she made throughout the 2025 season, that's more than understandable.

Reese's comment is a good reminder for fans

It's always important to remember that WNBA players are people, too — they are more than robots on the floor capable of hitting threes and winning games. As much as it would be fun to see Reese tackle another season in Miami, it's just as important (and perhaps even more so) that she get the kind of break she really needs, and gets to enjoy the offseason the way she wants to.

This is especially important considering the way Reese and the Sky closed out the 2025 season. The team was ranked near the bottom of the league with a 10-34 record, and Reese was also caught up in a media storm after she told the Chicago Tribune she may be compelled to "move in a different direction" if the team doesn't bring in different players. That didn't sit well with the current roster, and Reese ultimately apologized for the comments and was suspended for half a game.

Though she isn't super active on social media right now, Reese has been active offline. She recently walked in a Victoria's Secret show, a reality that would have been unfathomable for WNBA players in the not-too-distant past, and attended the CFDA Awards Monday night as part of a partnership with Amazon Fashion. The young hooper debuted a stunning brand new look, complete with a blonde bob and without her signature long lashes.
