Chicago Sky star Angel Reese continues to silence her doubters. In 2024, she broke Candace Parker's double-double streak record, as Parker recorded a double-double 12 games in a row and Reese reached 15. Reese's current streak sits at 11, meaning she is on the verge of surpassing Parker once again, via Real Sports. In fact, Reese may even be able to set a new record and surpass her previous mark.
Reese finished the game with 22 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks. The Washington Mystics defeated the Sky 103-86, but Reese still played well.
Reese has a number of critics. Parker has not been shy about sharing her honest opinion on Reese's game. Some fans have accused Parker of being a "reese" hater, while Candace has shut down those allegations. Parker has been honest about Reese's talent and her current level as a player, but she previously explained that it is nothing personal.
However, a clip from an upcoming podcast went viral on Tuesday. The clip -- from the Post Moves podcast with Parker and Indiana Fever star Aliyah Boston -- began with Parker asking Boston which players she would "take Reese over" in reference to the players she previously mentioned. Since it is only a 34-second clip, the players Parker mentioned were not revealed.
"I in no way, shape or form am a hater," Parker says at the beginning of the clip. "What player are you taking Angel Reese over of those that I just listed?"
The question led many fans to double down on their accusations of Parker being a Reese "hater." Again, though, it remains to be seen who Parker previously mentioned. The full episode is expected to be released on Wednesday morning.
Following Tuesday's game, Reese shared an intriguing post on X (formerly Twitter). It is unclear if it was in response to Parker's comments, but the timing will catch fans' attention.
"clout is one helluva DRUG. like it really gets to a point," Reese wrote.
Many fans assumed the response was to Parker, but as mentioned, it is uncertain exactly what Reese was addressing. Either way, the Sky star can continue to silence her critics by playing at a high level.
Candace Parker will surely take notice if Angel Reese surpasses her double-double streak for a second time.
