Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson is the best player in the WNBA. Although her numbers have declined early in the 2025 season, she is still producing at a high level. The Aces forward is currently averaging 20.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.3 blocks and 2.0 steals per outing. She is also shooting 43.5 percent from the field.

The Aces have struggled overall despite Wilson's strong numbers. She may not be playing like the clear MVP she was a season ago, but Las Vegas should be able to turn things around with Wilson leading the way.

With all of that being said, there is one specific concerning statistic that may hint at an overall down year for Wilson.

A'ja Wilson's three-point shooting slump

Wilson has never been considered an elite three-point shooter. Early in her career, she did not even shoot the three-ball. In fact, Wilson did not attempt a three-point shot until her fifth season in the league.

Over the years, Wilson has worked hard to become a reliable long-range shooter. In 2022, the first season in which she attempted three-pointers, Wilson averaged 2.3 attempts and shot a respectable 37.3 percent from deep.

She attempted under one three a game in 2023, however. In 2024, Wilson increased her attempts to 1.6 per outing, but shot just 31.7 percent from beyond the arc.

That leads us to 2025, where a worst possible scenario is coming to fruition. A'ja Wilson is shooting the three-point shot more than ever and missing at a career-worst rate. The Aces star is currently averaging 2.5 long-range attempts on an abysmal mark of 20 percent.

Should A'ja Wilson abandon the shot or try to work through her struggles? In today's WNBA, being able to shoot the three-ball as a center is a valuable weapon. It is still extremely early in the '25 campaign as well, so Wilson shouldn't completely give up on shooting three-point shots.

However, her attempts are not helping the Aces right now. Connecting on 0.5 of your 2.5 three-point attempts per game simply isn't going to be sustainable.

As mentioned, it is early and Wilson could certainly improve her efficiency as the '25 campaign moves forward. In the event that she continues to struggle at an alarming rate, however, Wilson may need to limit her attempts.

A'ja Wilson is unquestionably still a great player, but her three-point shooting slump will be a situation to monitor.
