The Las Vegas Aces' 2025 WNBA Draft outlook is intriguing. Their selections -- No. 13 and No. 35 overall -- likely won't make or break the team's future. Still, the No. 13 pick could prove to be crucial. Las Vegas needs a player who can fit with the Aces' specific style of play. According to Callie Fin of The Vegas Review-Journal, Aces president Nikki Fargas recently said the team wants to select players who will blend well with Las Vegas' "positionless" attack.
Focusing on the No. 13 pick, this means the Aces are looking for a player who can contribute in multiple facets of the game. Being able to offer versatility will be important.
Las Vegas' roster is built around three-time MVP A'ja Wilson. Bringing in the necessary pieces around the superstar is what will help keep the Aces competitive.
With all of that being said, who should the Aces select with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft?
Aces' potential No. 13 overall pick in WNBA Draft: Sarah Ashlee Barker
Alabama's Sarah Ashlee Barker may fall a bit further in the draft than No. 13 overall. She played her first two seasons in college basketball with Georgia before joining Alabama in 2022-23. She did not make too much of an impact in her first three years, but that changed in 2023-24.
Barker averaged 16.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.9 steals per game in the 2023-24 campaign. In 2024-25, Barker took another step forward, averaging 18.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.0 steals per outing. The 6'0" Alabama guard also recorded career-high percentages by shooting 51.4 percent from the field and 37.5 percent on her three-point attempts.
Barker would be a good fit with the Aces.
Why would Barker fit with the Aces?
Some may say that selecting Barker 13th overall is a bit of a reach. If her 2024-25 season told us anything, though, it is that she can play at a high level while providing versatility. In a lot of ways, Barker is the perfect fit for the Aces.
Barker's scoring prowess is what stands out, but she took a step in the right direction as a play-making guard this past season. Additionally, Barker is a strong rebounder at 6'0". She can cause havoc on the defensive end of the floor as well, something that is evidenced by her impressive steals per game averages.
She can play on the wing or run the point guard position if necessary. At the very least, Sarah Ashlee Barker could make an impact off the bench. Her potential suggests she could become a reliable starter at some point down the road, though.
