Hollywood to Atlanta

BAILEY JOHNSON: With the fourth pick of the draft, the Atlanta Dream have selected guard Chennedy Carter out of Texas A&M. Carter came out a year early after three years with the Aggies and averaged 22.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game in her career. Carter’s known as a scorer — which the Dream need after having the league’s worst offense in 2019 — but on a pre-draft conference call Wednesday, Dream coach Nicki Collen called her an “underrated passer” as well. The Dream made some big moves in free agency to retool their roster, and Carter will fit in well with the Dream’s stable of guards — players like Courtney Williams, Tiffany Hayes and Renee Montgomery. As the Dream look to rebound from a dismal 2019 campaign, Carter figures to be a key piece in the backcourt.
