Bulldogs starter enters portal

Mississippi State’s Chloe Bibby has entered the transfer portal after three years in Starkville.

In her announcement, Bibby thanks fans and said she feels “blessed to have been a Bulldog.”

“I want to say a massive thank you to the fans for embracing me and making the past three years an incredible experience,” Bibby said. “After long discussions with my family, I have decided to enter the transfer portal to explore all of my options moving forward. Lastly, please stay safe during this difficult time and treasure every moment with loved ones.”

Bibby arrived in Starkville from Warracknabeal, Australia for the 2017-18 season and emerged as a starter in 2018-19 before she missed half of the season due to knee injury. She was in the top three percent in Division I in scoring efficiency then, according to HerHoopStats.com, and averaged 11.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.

In 2019-20, she returned as a starter in her junior season to contribute 7.5 points and 5.2 rebounds.

Bibby’s announcement comes a day after head coach Vic Schaefer’s departure to Texas. While she was one of the few players who didn’t tweet a broken heart emoji, she did share a message:

This season, she was one of a few returning upperclassmen on the roster and averaged 23 minutes a game and made a team-high 38 threes.
