Princeton’s all-time leading scorer has bigger goals ahead

Bella Alarie may not be your typical college student. No, an astonishing level of accomplishment on the basketball court alone makes that clear.

More from Ivy League

She is dealing with a common issue at the moment though: her Tuesday morning class got cancelled out of an abundance of caution over the coronavirus.

And for Alarie, that means trying to figure out what it might feel like this weekend, and deeper into March, playing the most critical games of her career in front of empty arenas.

“I was talking to Taylor [Baur], our other senior, about this and it is weird that our senior year you do work so hard your whole career for the full arena, the cheering fans and your family there,” Alarie said. “We still don’t really know what’s going to happen, but once we know, we’ll start thinking about how to mentally prepare for that. The good thing is, we scrimmage and practice so we know how to play and compete without crowds. And we’ll play just as hard no matter what.”

Alarie spoke at length about her further development as a player, what makes Princeton so good defensively, and many other topics in this extended podcast. Listen here:
