The Sun announced two training camp contracts this week on social media

On Feb. 25 the team announced that they had signed Jazmon Gwathmey to a training camp contract.

Gwathmey graduated from JMU in 2016, earning the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year award and finishing her career ranked second in blocks, seventh in made field goals and eighth in points.

Kenny Brooks, her coach at JMU said, “ the most dominant player in this league I’ve seen, other than Elena Delle Donne.”

She was drafted by the San Antonio Stars with the 14th overall pick in the 2016 draft and she spent three seasons in the league. In 2017 she was traded to Indiana where she was until 2018.

In addition to playing on the Puerto Rican national team Gwathmey has spent this season on the Italian team Fila San Martino Di Lupari. She has averaged 18.0 points in the two games she has played for the team.

At the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in France Gwathmey averaged 17 points and 5.3 rebounds across the team’s three games, including 30 in a loss to Australia on Feb. 8.

On Feb. 26 the team announced they had signed Valériane A. Vukosavljevic to a contract as well.

Vukosavljevic last played on a WNBA roster in 2015 for the Stars. She averaged 2.3 points and 1.8 rebounds in 9.7 minutes per game.

She currently plays for the French national team and the Czech club ZVVZ USK Praha.

Vukosavljevic currently averages 13.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists for USK in 35.2 minutes per game.

Both Vukosavljevic and Gwathmey have a chance at making the Sun’s roster, as there are two open roster spots and limited cap space remaining.
