Fever match Dream offer sheet to Tiffany Mitchell
Mitchell will remain in Indiana for her fifth professional season
After the Atlanta Dream extended an offer sheet to free agent guard Tiffany Mitchell on Monday, the Indiana Fever matched the offer sheet Wednesday, keeping Mitchell in Indiana for the next three years.
The Dream offered Mitchell $140,000 in year one of the deal, followed by $144,200 and $148,526 in years two and three of the contract. Indiana matched it on Wednesday.

It’s no secret that Atlanta struggled offensively in 2019, finishing last in the league in points per game (71.2), field goals made (25.6), shooting percentage (37.1 percent) and 3-point percentage (29 percent).
In her four seasons in Indiana, Mitchell averages 9.4 points in 23.9 minutes per game and has shot 36.6 percent for her career. It stands to reason that the Dream went after Mitchell to add some depth and shooting at the guard position, especially after trading guard Brittney Sykes to Los Angeles, along with center Marie Gülich, for Kalani Brown.
Other guards on the Dream roster, like Alex Bentley, struggled individually in 2019 as the whole team had problems scoring. Mitchell has become known for a wide-ranging skill set that can be valuable for any team looking for depth and increased offensive output, which the Dream are certainly in need of as they look for more success in 2020.
With the offer sheet being matched by Indiana, the Dream’s lone acquisition so far in free agency has been Brown. They also extended an offer sheet to Astou Ndour, which was matched by the Chicago Sky before Ndour was sent to Dallas in a sign-and-trade deal that gave Chicago a 2021 first-round draft pick.
