High Post Hoops WNBA salary database: November 2019 update
Curt Miller spoke for the better part of three years of how 2019 was his target season with this Connecticut Sun roster, and only part of that came from how long he expected it to mature. The other half of that calculation came from a series of decisions he’ll now have to make following the team’s enormously successful run to the WNBA Finals. He’s going to start the offseason with Alyssa Thomas, Jasmine Thomas and Theresa Plaisance all under contract with full guarantees in 2020 — the third of those deals complicating both the money and the guarantee (teams can only guarantee six). That means a number of critical Sun players — their top two scorers from last year, Jonquel Jones and Courtney Williams, along with starter Shekinna Stricklen, former lottery picks Morgan Tuck and Rachel Banham, and vital bench cog Bria Holmes — are all unsigned. Even backup point guards Natisha Hiedeman (not on rookie scale since she was signed in-season) and Layshia Clarendon (likely to draw starter interest elsewhere this offseason) are all free as well. Replicating 2019’s roster is going to take some creativity.
