Sarah Andrews, one of the country’s best guards, has committed to the Baylor Bears

Times are good for the Baylor Bears and head coach Kim Mulkey. Following last year’s national championship, many believe they will be right there in the mix again this year, in an attempt to win back-to back titles. On Saturday, the future beyond this year got even brighter, as the top-ranked girls basketball player in Texas, in the class of 2020, Sarah Andrews, announced her commitment to Baylor.

Andrews, a 5’7 point guard from Irving, Texas, currently attends MacArthur High School, where she plays her high school basketball with Hannah Gusters, another Baylor recruit in the 2020 class. According to ESPN, Andrews is the No. 7 ranked recruit in the class, while Gusters, a 6’4 post player, comes in at No. 10.

Come March 2021, following her first full season at Baylor, we may be talking about Andrews as being one of the best players in the country–not just one of the best freshmen. Andrews does it all as a point guard. Elite-level handle, the ability to shoot from beyond the 3-point line, extremely good in transition, a hard-nosed defense, and perhaps her most important skill, the ability to lead her team, are all positive attributes that stand out about Andrews as a player.

Mulkey has now secured two top-10 players in the 2020 class, at two extremely important positions: point guard and post. Andrews is currently the fourth ranked point guard in the class behind Paige Bueckers (No. 1- UConn), Caitlin Clark (No. 4- uncommitted), and Diamond Johnson (No.6- uncommitted).

The Bears will begin their title defense tomorrow night, as they take on the University of New Hampshire.
