And then there were two.

The top two.

The Washington Mystics and Connecticut Sun will play for the 2019 WNBA title.

The best-of-five series will begin on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. ET at Washington’s Entertainment and Sports Arena, and the game will air on ESPN.

The Mystics, the No. 1 seed, earned its second-consecutive trip to the WNBA Finals after holding off the Las Vegas Aces in an intense 94-90 win Tuesday night. The Mystics won the series 3-1. Connecticut knew its fate as early as Sunday, after completing a series sweep of the Los Angeles Sparks in California.

Connecticut won the 2019 season series over Washington 2-1 by winning the season-opening game 84-69 and taking the June 11 contest 83-75. The Mystics blew out the Sun on June 29 with a 102-59 score.

The Mystics will host the Sun in Games 1 and 2, which will both be aired on ESPN. Game 2, set for Tuesday, Oct. 1, will begin at 8 p.m. ET. Game 3, which will air on ABC, is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 6 in Uncasville. Games 4 and 5, if necessary, will also be played at 8 p.m. on ESPN2, at Connecticut and Washington, respectively.

Last season, the Mystics held off the Atlanta Dream in the semifinals before being swept by the Seattle Storm in the finals. The Connecticut Sun haven’t played in the finals since back-to-back trips in 2004 and 2005.

No matter who wins, whether it is the Sun or the Mystics, one organization will be holding up its first WNBA trophy next month.
