2. Dallas Wings select Lauren Cox, 6’4 F/C, Baylor

Sure, the Liberty won the draft lottery, but you can sure argue Greg Bibb and the Dallas Wings did, too. Lauren Cox is the ultimate Brian Agler player, a shot-blocker extraordinaire, capable of shooting it from anywhere, a gifted passer with a body that should translate right away to the array of 4/5 looks Agler will throw at opponents. If Skylar Diggins-Smith returns to form, it’ll give Dallas a backcourt with a pair of capable playmakers at all times along with Arike Ogunbowale and Moriah Jefferson, and then Agler can counter with any number of mismatch opportunities via Cox, Kayla Thornton, Azura Stevens and if she returns, Glory Johnson. That’s a lot of talent, especially young talent, for Agler to mold into yet another champion. But Cox, who is from the area, might be the best of the bunch when she’s reached her full potential.
