Aces fill their 12th and final roster spot

The Las Vegas Aces are signing nine-year WNBA veteran guard Epiphanny Prince to a rest-of-season contract.

A source with knowledge of the situation confirmed that Prince is expected to join the team on Thursday.

The addition brings the team’s roster count to 12 after playing much of the season with 11 stemming back to preseason salary cap concerns and the buyout of Kelsey Bone‘s 2019 guaranteed contract.

Prince spent three seasons with Bill Laimbeer as a member of the New York Liberty from 2015 to 2017. The Liberty won 20 or more games in all three of those seasons but were ousted in back-to-back years at home in single-elimination play.

The 5’9″ guard was seen as the best player available at this time regardless of position. With just three games remaining in the regular season, Prince’s potential role with the team is still unclear, but the Aces are confident that they’ve added somebody that can contribute when called upon.

Laimbeer did make a lineup change in the team’s most recent game on Tuesday in Indiana. Kelsey Plum came off the bench for the first time this season as Tamera Young joined the starting unit.

2018 second-round pick Jaime Nared logged 283 minutes as a rookie last season and had a brief stint with the club earlier this month on consecutive seven-day contracts.

Prince went unsigned this past offseason and played in 16 games last season with the Liberty.
