High Post Hoops’ Top 20 WNBA players, ranked for 2019: Part 2, the final countdown
3. Brittney Griner
For a few years, Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve posited that Maya Moore wasn’t getting proper recognition because she was a veteran, and everyone looks around for the next big thing. Maybe that’s happening with Brittney Griner now? Because she continues to expand on what has been a deeply dominant game, complete with endless post moves, a comfort shooting the ball outside the paint, blocks and an improved ability to pass out of the double teams as decisions come more quickly. Her 2019 numbers are down early on, but with Diana Taurasi set to return, expect those to rebound, and remember how singular this 6’9 talent is, even if you’ve gotten used to watching her.
