Chicago Sky forwards Diamond DeShields and Kahleah Copper miss preseason opener
Both Chicago Sky forwards contributed significantly to the team last season.
Chicago Sky tandem Diamond DeShields and Kahleah Copper did not suit up for the Sky’s preseason opener on Tuesday morning against the Indiana Fever.
DeShields reportedly pulled her hamstring in practice, but only sat out the game as a precaution, per Madeline Kenney of the Chicago Sun Times.
Copper continues to recover from a hand injury she sustained while playing overseas with Turkish club OGM Orman and also did not play in the game.

DeShields will likely start every game she is available for the Sky this season and Copper was a key piece off the bench last season, averaging 15.9 minutes played per game. The two combined to play in all but one game for Chicago, and contributed 21.5 points per game.
Last season’s backup point guard Jamierra Faulkner’s injury timetable is also unknown. Faulkner suffered torn ligaments in her right knee last early last July. The guard has been working out with the team but no clear return date has been set.
Chicago Sky head coach James Wade started Courtney Vandersloot, Katie Lou Samuelson, Gabby Williams, Stefanie Dolson and Cheyenne Parker on Tuesday morning. Allie Quigley did not play due to just recently finishing up overseas playing commitments.
The Sky will suit up away against the Fever again on Thursday at 11:00 am Central Time. Thursday will mark their final preseason game before their regular season starts on May 25 on the road against the Minnesota Lynx.
