The former DePaul Blue Demon and Illinois native joined the Sky’s training camp roster on May 5.

The Chicago Sky continued to trim down their roster on Sunday by waiving 5-foot-8 guard Ashton Millender.

More from Chicago Sky

Millender spent five seasons at DePaul University. As a senior she averaged 13.1 points per game, and notably dropped 27 points in a loss against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Millender finished her career with the Blue Demons as the all-time leader in games played and second in both 3-point attempts and 3-point makes.

Under Millender’s veteran stewardship, DePaul finished the season 26-8 and won the Big East tournament, their fourth tournament title in six years. The title tied them for second-most Big East tournament championships with St. Johns, with Connecticut leading the pack.

Chicago is now down to 17 players on their training camp roster after waiving Leslie Robinson and Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah earlier in the week. Forward Gabby Williams’ arrival to training camp brings the Sky close to full strength, with only center Astou Ndour and guard Jamierra Faulkner still yet to arrive.

Williams was selected fourth overall in the 2018 WNBA draft. She averaged 7.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 steals in just 23 minutes per game as a rookie. Her total steals was second in the league behind only Maya Moore.

The Sky will play their first preseason game on May 14 at home against the Indiana Fever. They will open up their regular season on May 25 on the road against the Minnesota Lynx.
