Pokey Chatman (Indiana Fever)

Overall Record: 121-151 (272 games coached)

Record in Indiana: 15-53 (68 games coached)

After helping Chicago get to the 2014 Finals, Pokey Chatman has been leading the Fever’s post-Catchings rebuild. As many expected, the wins have been few and far between so far, but year three in Indiana can bring some big milestones regardless.

She enters 2019 as the fourth coach in Indiana to log three seasons at the helm (Nell Fortner, Brian Winters, and Lin Dunn before her), and with her 32nd game coached for the Fever, she’ll become the seventh coach to log 100 games for two different teams, after Anne Donovan (Charlotte and Seattle), Bill Laimbeer (Detroit and New York), Brian Agler (Minnesota, Seattle, and Los Angeles), Dan Hughes (Cleveland and San Antonio), Michael Cooper (Los Angeles and Atlanta), and Mike Thibault (Connecticut and Washington). That opportunity could come in Minnesota on September 1.

She enters the season 29 wins away from 300, so that mark is most likely left for future seasons, but in her ninth season as a head coach in the league, she is 28 games from her 300th in the WNBA. That game could come on August 22 in Los Angeles.

In her 13th game this season, she’ll pass Fred Williams (284) in games coached. Eleven wins this season would push her pass Williams (131), and three more would get her past Richie Adubato (134).

Brondello enters the season just four wins behind Chatman, with 117 in her seven years, so it’s possible they could swap positions on the active coaches leader board by season’s end.
