Bedford North Lawrence Star is Indiana’s Miss Basketball

Jorie Allen was named Indiana’s Miss Basketball on Sunday night at the IndyStar Sports Award Banquet.

The 6’0 wing is the second player in Bedford North Lawrence school history to achieve this honor, joining former Miss Basketball Marla Inman.

More from Big Ten Conference

Allen is also recognized as the third player in IU’s history to be named Indiana’s Miss Basketball.

This upcoming season she will play alongside redshirt senior Ali Patberg, who won Miss Basketball honors for the State of Indiana in 2015, and finished the season as a All-Big 10 Second team selection.

During Allen’s four-year tenure at Bedford North Lawrence High school, the 6′ wing accumulated a total of 1,930 points, a Bedford North Lawrence program record.

Allen is also no stranger when it comes to winning, leading her team to securing four Class 4A sectional titles and one crown regional championship.

From dropping 251 dimes and securing 943 boards in her four years at Bedford North Lawrence, the future Hoosier has demonstrated her ability to be versatile on the floor.

More impressively, the Indiana Native finished her senior year ranked no. 52 by ESPN Hoopgurlz and ranked no. 11 in her position for the class of 2019.

Allen’s achievements does not stop at Miss Basketball, she was also named a 2019 Indiana All-Star, a 2019 IBCA Senior All-State Supreme 15 selection, and an All-USA Today Second Team selection.

Based off of Allen’s resume she may very well be on her way to breaking more records in the state of Indiana, this time around in a Hoosier jersey.
