3. Indiana Fever: Teaira McCowan, 6’7 C, Mississippi State

Indiana finished last in the WNBA in rebounding percentage, last in block percentage, and dearly needs a big to address these issues. Moreover, while Teaira McCowan is a better fit for those specific areas of need, they also landed in last place in offensive rating, suggesting that whoever they find to play the five needs to provide offensive value, too. So it’s worth noting how far McCowan’s game has come on that end, up to 66.5 percent from the floor, 76.7 percent from the free throw line. She is a legit two-way player, capable of running at the speed Pokey Chatman like to play, and her ability to protect the rim will transform the Fever defense while getting them more transition opportunities — considering the Fever were fourth in offensive efficiency in transition, per Synergy, but ninth in attempts, that will matter a great deal on the offensive end, too. This is the big Pokey has been waiting for.
