Last coaching in 2012, Fortner owns a career winning percentage of .618 and looks to stabilize Georgia Tech in a tumultuous time.
In desperate need of a leader to move them forward from the mess that is the MaChelle Joseph situation, Georgia Tech is turning to the unexpected and hiring current ESPN analyst Nell Fortner as its next head coach, multiple sources out of Atlanta confirm to High Post Hoops.

Fortner last coached from 2004-12 when she was the head coach at Auburn and led the Tigers 145-106 (53-56) record, including two trips to both the NCAA tournament and WNIT.
In addition to her time at Auburn, Fortner also served as the head coach of Purdue for one season, the Indiana Fever for three seasons, and was also the head coach of USA Basketball. Her 101 wins at the helm of Team USA are the most wins in Women’s USA Basketball history.
She also spent several seasons as the GM of the Indiana Fever.
Fortner has become one of ESPN and SEC Networks most popular in-studio analysts in recent years, weaving together her southern, witty charm with her high basketball IQ.
She inherits a Georgia Tech team that went 17-13 (7-9) last season, but whose top four leading scorers all are currently in the transfer portal.
