Georgia Tech- ACC

Departed coach/record:  MaChelle Joseph, 16 seasons (311-204 overall, 113-131 in the ACC)

Reason for departure:  It depends who you ask.

Georgia Tech claims that an independent investigation determined that Joseph built a “toxic” “suffocating,” “unhealthy” and “hostile” environment, and described Joseph’s conduct as “bullying” and “emotionally, mentally and verbally ‘abusive.’”

Joseph claims that the school fired her in retaliation after she brought forward complaints about some Title IX concerns. She has since responded to the allegations as well.

New coach/previous position: Nell Fortner, ESPN analyst- Well, safe to say this one was unexpected. Last coaching in 2012 at Auburn, Fortner has been called upon to right the ship that truly is a Rambling Wreck. The winningest women’s coach in USA Basketball history, Fortner will certainly be a welcome presence in Atlanta, and time will tell if the gamble is worth it.
