Lamar- Southland

Departed coach/record:  Robin Harmony, 6 seasons (115-66 overall, 83-25 in the Southland)

Reason for departure: Harmony accepted the head coaching position at College of Charleston.

New coach/previous position: Aqua Franklin, Kansas associate head coach: After serving 10 years as an assistant or associate head coach, Franklin finally gets her opportunity to lead her own program. In addition to Kansas, Franklin also coached at Mississippi State, Stephen F. Austin, and Texas A&M. She began her coaching career after a brief career in the WNBA for the Sacramento Monarchs and the Seattle Storm.

Franklin is well regarded in the coaching community and inherits a program in excellent shape. The only knock, if you can call it that, on previous coach Robin Harmony’s stellar run is that the team never got into the NCAA tournament. Franklin will look to fix that right away.
